The Office of Research is pleased to support the Broader Impacts (BI) Office, a new service at UCSC that helps researchers to develop creative and innovative Broader Impacts statements and activities for their NSF grant applications.

The BI Office is part of the growing trend seen across the nation as other universities continue to mount similar services in response to growing public and NSF pressure to further demonstrate the societal impacts of scientific research.

In its pilot phase, the Broader Impacts Office focuses on linking researchers to partners that focus on science outreach to broad audiences and science training and professional development for undergraduates, graduate students, and K-12 teachers.

Sincerely,

Scott Brandt
