Office of Sponsored Projects

The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) is responsible for reviewing and authorizing proposals for submission on behalf of the Regents of the University of California, as well as interpreting, negotiating, and accepting contracts and grants funded by federal and state agencies, foundations, and other public and private sources. The UC Contract and Grant Manual sets forth UC Systemwide policies for the solicitation, acceptance, and administration of awards from extramural sponsors.

What we do

  • Ensure proposals and awards comply with relevant university, federal, and sponsor policies and support the integrity of our institution
  • Review, negotiate, and accept sponsored agreements
  • Review and facilitate award modifications (eg. supplemental fund requests, no-cost time extensions, carryforward requests, changes in scope of work, change of PI, award transfers, or terminations)
  • Provide UC Santa Cruz institutional endorsement and authorized signature on documents related to research, training, and other sponsored programs
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute outgoing subaward agreements and modifications
  • Provide guidance on extramural funding questions

Remember, per UCOP policy all proposals for extramural funding must be submitted through the Office of Sponsored Projects, even if the sponsor does not require an institutional signature.

Not sure if you are working on a sponsored proposal or award? Please reach out to ask!
