About Office of Sponsored Projects

The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) is the central campus unit with the delegated authority to solicit and accept sponsored awards on behalf of The Regents of the University of California, on behalf of its Santa Cruz campus. As the designated signing official for UC Santa Cruz, OSP is responsible for ensuring all resulting contracts, grants, and related agreements comply with applicable UC Policy prior to acceptance.

OSP is primarily divided into two teams: the proposal team and the awards team.

  • The proposal team analysts are responsible for reviewing and approving funding proposal submissions.
  • The awards team officers are responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and signing sponsored project awards.

Find your contact on Staff Assignments.

OSP works with PIs, researchers, and other partners across campus who have varied roles and responsibilities related to managing sponsored projects.

To learn more about how the work of OSP fits into the full proposal and award process, see Sponsored Projects Award Life Cycle.

UC Policy requires OSP submission approval and award acceptance, regardless of the sponsoring agency’s signature requirements.
