ORD Seed Fund Initiatives

Seed Fund Initiative

The Office of Research is establishing a UCSC Research Seed Funding program that is aimed at providing investment for innovative research initiatives. The idea of the seed funds is to utilize a UC Santa Cruz seed investment towards catalyzing a collaborative project in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences. We envision proposals that bring together faculty with diverse backgrounds, areas of inquiry and expertise.

Current Opportunities

12/15/19 — LOI deadline
1/15/20 — Proposal deadline

As the nature of these proposals should be collaborative and/or multi-disciplinary, proposals will only be accepted from multi-investigator teams.

Seed funding can be used for: grant planning, capacity building, research development activities, and acquisition of key data. This would include teaching relief, GSR support, travel, research resources, etc. No summer salary support can be requested. Questions about the appropriate use of funds can be directed to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Research, John MacMillan, at jomacmil@ucsc.edu.
